Best products to import from China to Nigeria: what we can check

Everyone lists the best products to import from China to Nigeria. Almost nobody tells you which ones have sellers you can actually check. So we looked. Across all 708 sellers in our directory on 22 August 2026, phones and gadgets had the highest share of well reviewed sellers, at 25.0%. Clothing had the lowest, at 3.0%. That gap should change how you start.

Best products to import from China to Nigeria

There is no single best product. There is a best way to start. Pick a line where you can find sellers other buyers have talked about in public. On our numbers on 22 August 2026, that means phones and gadgets, hair and wigs, or bags. Clothing is the hardest place to start, and it is where most people begin.

Every other list ranks products by profit. We cannot see profit and we will not guess at it. What we can see is how much buyers say in public about the people selling each line. That is a different question, and for a first order it may be the more useful one.

Because the risk in your first order is not that the goods sell slowly. It is that the money leaves and nothing comes back. A line full of quiet sellers makes that harder to avoid.

Why clothing is the hardest place to start

Clothing has plenty of sellers and almost no public feedback. We list 66 clothing and fashion sellers. Only 3.0% of them reached 4 or 5 out of 5 on 22 August 2026. That is the lowest share of any line we track. Fashion moves fast, sellers come and go, and comments never build up.

This surprised us too. Clothing is the line most new importers pick, because it is easy to picture selling it. But it is the line where you will find the least to read before you pay.

It does not mean clothing sellers are worse people. It means the trade churns. A boutique supplier who was busy last year may be gone this year, and a fresh page carries no history at all. Start smaller here than you would anywhere else.

The lines where buyers actually leave a trail

Phones and gadgets lead, with 25.0% of 28 sellers at 4 or 5 on 22 August 2026. Hair and wigs follow at 16.1% of 56. Bags and luggage sit at 14.8% of 27. These are small groups, so read them as a hint rather than a rule. The pattern is steady though.

Think about why. Somebody who buys a phone says whether it was original. Somebody who buys a wig says whether it shed. Those are things you can test at home, so buyers come back and say so.

General goods are the opposite. We list 165 sellers under general goods, the biggest group of all, and only 6.1% reach 4 or 5. When a page sells everything, nobody has one specific thing to praise. Take extra care with a seller who has no line at all.

Check the rules before you fall in love with a product

Some goods are simple to sell and hard to import. Cosmetics must be registered with NAFDAC before you can sell them in Nigeria, and the forms go through its NAPAMS portal. Nigeria also bans some goods outright. Check both lists before you pay a supplier, not after.

This is the part that catches people. The order arrives, the goods are fine, and you still cannot sell them. Or worse, they sit at the port while charges build up.

So do the paperwork check first. It takes an hour of reading and it is free. A product you can bring in cleanly, from a seller you can read up on, beats a better margin with no way home.

How to pick your first product line from China

Do this before you shortlist a supplier. It is about the line, not the person. Once you have a line where you can read what buyers said, checking a single seller gets much easier. Give yourself one evening for this and you will save weeks later.

  • Pick one line. Not general goods, and not everything.
  • Look that line up in our directory and see how many sellers have real comments.
  • Check whether the goods need NAFDAC registration before you can sell them.
  • Check the Nigeria Customs ban list for anything close to your product.
  • Work out the landed cost, not the unit price. Add shipping, duty and clearing.
  • Ask three sellers the same question and compare the answers.
  • Order one small batch you could afford to write off.
  • Pay in a way that leaves a receipt with a business name on it.
  • Keep the chat, the invoice and the payment note in one folder.

How we worked this out

We read what buyers said in public. The figures come from all 1,743 sellers in our directory on 22 August 2026. Each seller is scored 1 to 5 on how much real buyer feedback we can find on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn. We check the whole list again every week.

A score is what we could see, and nothing more. A quiet seller is often a real business that sells offline. Read a low score as missing proof, not as a warning about that person.

We do not sell goods and we do not sell sourcing, so we have no product to push. Most lists of what to import are written by people who will sell you the thing, the course or the agent.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best product to import from China to Nigeria?

There is no single answer, and anyone who gives you one is selling something. On our numbers on 22 August 2026, phones and gadgets had the most sellers with real public feedback, at 25.0% of 28. That makes it an easier place to learn, not a promise of profit.

Is clothing a bad line to import?

No. It is just the hardest to check. Of the 66 clothing sellers we list, only 3.0% reached 4 or 5 on 22 August 2026. If you want to sell clothes, expect to do more of the checking yourself and start with a much smaller order.

Do I need NAFDAC approval to import cosmetics?

Yes. NAFDAC requires imported cosmetics to be registered before they are sold in Nigeria, and the forms go through its NAPAMS portal. Goods on the government ban list are not accepted at all. Check this before you order, not after the goods land.

Why do you not rank products by profit?

Because we cannot see it. We hold what buyers said in public about sellers, not margins or sales figures. Plenty of sites will estimate profit for you. We would rather tell you something we can stand behind, dated 22 August 2026.
